ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT MOURNS WITH BAYELSA STATE OVER THE DEATH OF HIS EXCELLENCY, SEN LAWRENCE EWHRUDJAKPO PHD.
The Abia State Government has commiserated with the Government and people of Bayelsa State over the death of the late Deputy Governor, His Excellency Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo Ph.D, describing his passing as a painful loss to the Niger Delta and the Nation at large.
Representing the Governor of Abia State,Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE attended the funeral and valedictory Executive Council Session as well as the burial ceremony held in honour of the late Bayelsa Deputy Governor. The events drew top government functionaries, traditional rulers, political leaders and well-wishers from across the country who gathered to pay their last respects.

Speaking during the valedictory Executive Council Session, Abia Deputy Governor, Engr. Emetu conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Abia State Government to the Bayelsa State Governor, the bereaved family, and the entire people of Bayelsa State. He described the late Sen. Lawrence as a dedicated public servant whose commitment to good governance and service to humanity left indelible marks on the development of Bayelsa State.

In his words, “the late Deputy Governor was known for his humility, wisdom and unwavering loyalty in the discharge of his duties”, adding that his contributions to the stability and progress of Bayelsa State would be remembered for years to come.
“The Government and people of Abia State share in this moment of grief. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Bayelsa State and pray that God grants the family, the state government and all loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.
The funeral service and burial ceremony were marked by glowing tributes from colleagues, friends and associates who celebrated the life, legacy and service of the late Deputy Governor.

Abia State Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the bonds of unity and cooperation among states, particularly in moments of shared sorrow, while praying for the peaceful repose of the soul of His Excellency Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo Ph.D.
