Amafia Polling Units Rally Support for Otti, Emetu, Pledge Grassroots Mobilisation Ahead of 2027

Stakeholders and residents of Amafia Polling Units 1–3 in Isiama Ward, Ohafia Local Government Area, have reaffirmed their total support for the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, pledging sustained grassroots mobilisation to protect and consolidate the gains of the Labour Party–led government in Abia State.

The assurance was given on Sunday, January 1st, 2026, during an engagement meeting held in Amafia as part of activities surrounding the Labour Party State Working Committee (SWC) familiarisation visit across the 17LGAs in Abia State.

In his opening remarks, the convener of the maiden meeting, Sir Cyril Chukwudi Eke Mba, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Abia State, thanked polling unit members for turning out despite the short notice. He explained that the meeting was convened in line with the directive of Governor Alex Otti, conveyed through the Deputy Governor, mandating stakeholders to engage their constituents and promote government policies and programmes at the grassroots level.

Sir Mba appreciated the people for their support during the 2023 general elections, which culminated in the victory of Governor Otti and his Deputy, and commended them for their continued solidarity with the present administration. He highlighted key dividends of democracy delivered to the area, particularly the construction of the Ofali Agwu Road with extension to Agumba Road, executed by the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA).

He further urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to register, replace lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or renew damaged ones, describing the PVC as a critical tool in the fight against underdevelopment, poverty, hunger, and insecurity.

“We must return Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, in the 2027 gubernatorial election,” Sir Mba declared.

Also speaking at the meeting, Mr. Gareth Great Lekwa, a youth philanthropist, founder of the Gareth Great Foundation, and an ardent supporter of the Otti administration, expressed admiration for the pace and quality of infrastructural development across the state. Resident in Ilishan Remo, Ogun State, Mr. Lekwa described the impact of the administration’s programmes as unprecedented and urged Abians to demonstrate solidarity by ensuring the re-election of the Governor and his Deputy in 2027.

Various speakers at the meeting echoed strong confidence in the leadership of Governor Otti, unanimously agreeing to embark on house-to-house mobilisation across the three polling units to engage and sensitise eligible voters ahead of future elections.

The people expressed deep appreciation to Governor Otti and Deputy Governor Emetu for appointing their son, Sir Cyril Chukwudi Eke Mba, as Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, pledging their full support and confidence in his capacity to serve diligently.

Participants also appealed to the state government to provide safe and potable drinking water for Amafia community, noting that access to clean water remains a pressing challenge for residents.

The meeting ended with renewed commitment to the people-oriented agenda of Dr. Alex Otti–led government in Abia State and a resolve to sustain grassroots engagement in support of good governance.
