BEYOND PROMISES: ELDER ENGR OBINNA ODUM’S MODEL POLITICIANS SHOULD COPY

In a time when public goodwill is often measured by loud promises, Elder Engr. Obinna Odum chose a quieter, but far more powerful approach: action.

On January 27, 2026, through his humanitarian platform Obicare Foundation, Engr. Odum intervened decisively in the lives of indigent SS3 students across Ohafia, Abia State. He paid their school fees for three academic terms and fully covered their WAEC registration fees, removing a major barrier between these students and their future.

“This is not a charity for applause; it is an investment in excellence”, Engr Odum stated.

But the intervention went beyond payments. Engr. Odum used the opportunity to challenge the students to discipline, focus, and a strong reading culture, reminding them that education remains the most sustainable path to personal and societal transformation.

In a powerful assurance, he pledged even greater support for students who excel, extending beyond WAEC and JAMB to broader educational opportunities.

“The only way you can appreciate me is to read and pass”, Engr Odum challenged.

Schools visited, including Ofali Agwu Secondary School (Amaekpu), Collins Secondary School (Elu), Otodo Secondary School, and Coronata Secondary School (Asaga), welcomed the initiative as timely, impactful, and deeply inspiring.

Education stakeholders and community leaders have since described the effort as a model of leadership rooted in empathy, responsibility, and results.
