Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Abia State and Nigerians across the globe, calling for a renewed commitment to national unity, patriotism, and collective progress.

In a goodwill message delivered on October 1, 2026, Engr. Emetu reflected on the nation’s journey since gaining sovereignty in 1960. He highlighted the remarkable achievements, the obstacles overcome, and the enduring resilience that defines the Nigerian spirit.

Engr. Emetu urged citizens to use the anniversary as an opportunity to honour the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers. He emphasised that the present generation carries a clear responsibility to build a stronger, more peaceful, and prosperous country.

”Our diversity remains one of our greatest assets. Regardless of ethnic, religious, or political differences, we must continue to promote peace, mutual respect, inclusiveness, and national unity.”

The Deputy Governor further noted that sustainable national progress cannot be achieved by government alone, stressing that active engagement from citizens, local communities, and key stakeholders is crucial to driving long-term development.

Turning his attention to the residents of Abia State, Engr. Emetu praised their steadfastness and reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to their welfare.
