ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO TRADE AND INVESTMENT AS 2ND ABA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR CLOSES SUCCESSFULLY

The Deputy Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, has reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to promoting trade, investment, and private-sector-led economic growth in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, at the closing ceremony of the 2nd Aba International Trade Fair, yesterday, the Deputy Governor commended all participants for their contributions to the success of the trade fair, describing the event as a strong testament to Aba’s enduring reputation as a centre of commerce, enterprise, and innovation.

“On behalf of the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, I warmly appreciate all participants whose presence, commitment, and contributions have made the 2nd Abia International Trade Fair a resounding success,” the Deputy Governor said.

He noted that the impressive turnout of traders, manufacturers, investors, and exhibitors from within and outside the state once again affirmed Abia State, particularly Aba, as a vibrant hub for business and industrial activities.

“This trade fair has not only showcased products and services but has also fostered partnerships, knowledge exchange, and economic opportunities that align perfectly with our administration’s vision of expanding the economy through private-sector-driven growth,” Engr. Emetu stated.

Engr. Emetu expressed profound appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr. Chimezie Obiukwu, and her team for what he described as their vision, professionalism, and tireless efforts in organizing a world-class event that reflects the Otti-led administration’s resolve to reposition Abia State as a preferred destination for trade and investment.

He also applauded traders, manufacturers, SMEs, business associations, and international partners for their resilience, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit, stressing that they remain the backbone of Abia State’s economy.

“Let me assure the good people of Aba and Abia State that this administration remains fully committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive through sustained investment in infrastructure, improved ease of doing business, and policies that support trade and industrial development,” the Deputy Governor assured.

Looking ahead, Engr. Emetu disclosed that preparations were already underway to make the next edition of the trade fair bigger and more impactful.

“As we close this year’s edition, I am pleased to announce that by God’s grace, the 2026 Abia International Trade Fair will surpass expectations in scope, participation, innovation, and global reach,” he added.

Earlier in her remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr. Chimezie Obiukwu, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for his unwavering commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses in Aba to thrive. She also thanked sponsors, including Master Energy Group, Rhino Homes and Properties, and other partners whose support was instrumental to the success of the fair.

Dr. Obiukwu commended exhibitors, investors, participants, and organizers for their active engagement, noting that the fair provided a strategic platform for networking, market expansion, and showcasing the quality, creativity, and competitiveness of Aba-made products to national and international audiences. She further encouraged participants to sustain business networking and collaboration beyond the trade fair.

In her vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Mrs. Jane Maxwell Igwe, acknowledged and appreciated Governor Alex Chioma Otti for his steadfast dedication to driving the economic growth of Abia State. She also commended the organizing committees and market stakeholders for ensuring the smooth and successful execution of the event.

Following the successful completion of the second Aba International Trade Fair, the Abia State Government has reiterated its resolve to continuously promote policies and programmes that drive trade, boost commercial activities, and enhance sustainable economic growth across the state.
